With the rise of Tik Tok as a major social media platform, there also came the rise of Tik Tok musical artists, and they sure do amaze.
Representing South Asia, we have Kiran + Nivi, a duo merging South Asian swaram with English pop songs, such as this beautiful rendition of ”snowman” by Sia. Their Tik Tok account has gathered over one million followers and they’re continuing to grow by the day.

“TikTok has changed our life and we are truly grateful for all the love and support we have been receiving throughout the world through TikTok,” Kiran and Nivi said. “It’s great to see that people love our videos and that it makes their day.”
Their musical careers have even led them to collaborate with Jason Derulo, a popular artist in the American music industry. Derulo is well known for songs like “Love Not War” and “Take You Dancing”.

“It was a great experience meeting Jason and it was amazing to record at his studio. Various news channels have featured this and many brands have reached out to us and we are looking forward to where this takes us,” Kiran and Nivi stated.
Since the launch of their career, Kiran and Nivi have released their own original music, including “Is there Peace?” inspired by Sri Sathya Sai Baba. In addition, their latest song, “Real Friend” is incredibly relevant and so touching, garnering over 20,000 streams on Spotify. The twins are continuing to write and release new songs on Tik Tok, YouTube, and Spotify.
“In 2021, we look forward to releasing more original music,” the duo said. “We have one releasing in about a month, we can’t wait for everyone to hear this particular song that we wrote! And, of course, we are looking forward to things coming back to normality!”
Their career shines a spotlight on the beauty of intercultural fusion music.
As we know, Indian music is diverse and filled with so many different styles and genres. Kiran and Nivi seamlessly took elements from South Asian culture and integrated them into American music, creating beautiful melodies.
“We have received many messages saying that they are proud to see more South Asian representation in the music scene which we are truly grateful for,” Kiran and Nivi said. “Many instagram Dm’s from the Indian community have messaged us saying that we inspire them to sing more and proud to see Indians in the pop music scene which hasn’t been seen before.”
