The Grand Finale, Paris Fashion Week 2019

Paris Fashion Week 2019

The ultimate end to fashion week takes place in the magical city of love, Paris. Home to the finest international fashion houses and Maison’s from Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Balmain and many more. Check out the roundup of the shows which were memorable and made this season count.

Saint Laurent

Anthony Vaccarello’s creations for his SS20 show was a true spectacle. Set with the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower, the collection stunned all. Beautiful suiting that glittered across the runway. Black alligator belts in gold added shape to the rock and roll collection which runs deeply in the Maison. The highlight was the shoes, classic YSL logo heels and the iconic knee-high boots were paired with the chicest looks. Epitomizing the classic Parisian girl. Rich textures of black suede, maroon leather and gold leaf floral textures were scattered across the collection. Supermodel Naomi Campbell closed the show, now that is a showstopper! A true highlight of Paris Fashion Week 2019.

BALMAIN

Monochromatic, colour, texture and a heavy feature of colourful accessories from statement pieces such as skinny sunglasses, to big earrings, large neckpieces and the unveiling of the new Balmain logo. Showcased in mini clutches and bum bags. One thing to note is Oliver’s shows are always a celebration of diversity. It reminded me of a beautiful Monet painting, an intelligent, fun collection. Bravo Balmain!

Y/Project

The brand that places the N in Nonchalant. This year for Paris Fashion Week Y Project unveiled well-constructed pieces were similar to an architectural masterpiece. From deconstructed suits to super artistic pieces of earrings. Calm, cool and collective.

BALENCIAGA

Reminiscent of an EU conference, Demna Gvasalia created a space to show his collection in a room filled from head to toe in EU blue velvet. Seating was presented in a spiral-like swirl. The collection focused on dressing for work and show notes pointed out the art of power dressing. Oversized suiting, high shoulders, occasional features of Hello Kitty, in some of the bags the models wore featured. Additional accessories include skinny sunglasses and prosthetic cheekbones on all models which were cool but oddly alien-like.

L’Oréal Le Défilé Fashion Show

L’Oréal ambassadors gathered in Paris during fashion week and walked to embrace female empowerment. A star-studded line up including the likes of Dame Helen Mirren, India’s very own Aishwarya Rai Bachan, Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes walked the runway. L’Oréal an official sponsor of Paris Fashion Week collaborated with iconic fashion houses from Balmain, Ellie Saab, Giambattista Valli to dress the celebrities who made their debut on the runway.
