Actors who made it big once they switched to the silver screen

The world of cinema and television appeals to many people. This love for the glitz and glamour of being a part of the industry has lakhs of people coming to the city in hope for a break. Not all who come get it, and not all who get it make it big.

The demand for television dramas are very high in the country, but, the love, respect and popularity of a film star is yet higher. In the past decade or two we have seen a lot of TV actors moving towards the silver screen in hope of making it big there. Here too not all were successful.

Here are 5 such TV actors who made it big after making the switch to cinema:

Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan became probably the most success actor after the big switch. Prior to entering Bollywood, King Khan did notable TV series’ like DD National’s Faujee and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Circus. Although his first few films didn’t work well at the box office, SRK is now the Badshah of Bollywood – loved by all, not only in India but all over the world.

Irrfan Khan

Thins Bollywood and Hollywood actor, before foraying into film acted in a TV serial called Shrikant and then went on to star in the famous show, Chandrakanta. Not many remember Irrfan on the small screen but there is no doubt of his acting capabilities after watching films like Maqbool, Pan Singh Tomar, The Lunch Box and Hindi Medium.

Yami Gautam

 
This Bollywood beauty was part of 2 television series on popular networks before making it big in Bollywood with Vicky Donor. Her first TV show, Chaand ke Paar Chalo, aired from 2008-2009 and the next Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam, telecasted from 2009-2010. The actress has since then acted in Sarkar 3, Badlapur and the soon to be released Batti Gul Meter Chalu among others.

Ayushmann Khurrana

Ayushmann Khurrana first got noticed when he auditioned for MTV’s Roadies Season 2. After winning the show he appeared in several reality shows as an anchor or host. Ayushmann made the switch to films as the lead in Vicky Donor and has been on the rise ever since.

Sushant Singh Rajput

Many remember him as Manav from Ekta Kapoor’s Pavitra Rishta. The pretty successful TV actor who won many awards for the role switched to movies mid –serial to be part of Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! Sushant has starred in several commercially successful films, including the biopic on Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
