'The Other Plays' Sheds Light on Modern Day Discrimination!

About a century ago signs hung from windows of stores in New York shunning the Irish, in India the British Raj exempt ‘dogs and brown men’ from entering a certain premise, segregation kept people of color from riding in the front of the bus and women had no say in most matters. Fast forward to 2017 the concept of discrimination still remains, the only problem is that it’s so watered down that we fail to recognize it.

The Other Plays‘ is a series of short plays compacted into an 80-minute eye opening experience addressing the issue of discrimination in today’s world. With each play, audiences are introduced to a different shade of this dark and eerie world. This is the 5th Festival of new short plays presented by Theater Breaking Through Barriers, which will examine otherness in its many forms — racial, religious, political, sexual and social disabilities.

With acts ranging from a day in the life of someone who is hard of hearing to the plight of women of color, ‘The Other Plays’ is an experience not to be missed.

The series is playing at the Jeffrey and Paula Gural Theatre at the New Art New York Theaters from March 22nd to March 26th. For further listing please check out their website.
