Women’s Day is one of the most celebrated days of the year. On this day, women are empowered, treated with respect and much more. But is one day really enough? On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we spoke to a few popular actors to know there views on whether we should celebrate the day or not?

Harshvardhan Deo, who made his Bollywood debut with ‘Jigariyaa‘ said,

“I feel it’s good that we have a day to celebrate women and womanhood, but having said that I also feel the world needs to celebrate that every single day. The importance of women in my life has been very much and in fact love and respect for them is paramount, especially because I have been very close to my mother and have grown up with sisters.” When asked, what changes is he looking forward for the women in the country? The dashing actor said, “We need education for our men so that we as a society can build a safer environment for our women.”

Namish Taneja, who was last seen in ‘Swaragini‘ said,

“I don’t believe in this concept, as one day is not ‘just’ enough to recognize the contribution of women’s in shaping up our society. Women deserve more than just ‘International Women’s Day’.”

Talking about the changes he is looking forward for the women in the country? The dashing actor said,

“Apart from Education, I think we need to teach them job skills and seed businesses, which will make them financially independent that will in turn increase their self-esteem and confidence.”

Aasiya Kazi, who did the shows like Bandini, Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha, Dharampatni, Hitler Didi, Balika Vadhu, said,

“A woman does so much for their family, even words become powerless when we try to express our gratitude towards them. I feel one day is not enough to honor their sacrifices.”

Similar thoughts were echoed by ‘Jodha Akbar‘ fame Ravi Bhatia, who is currently doing international shows. He said,

“I don’t think we particularly need one day to make women feel special. It should be celebrated throughout the year. I believe daily gratefulness and appreciations go further than a single day of overcompensation.”

Shalini Arora, who is currently doing ‘Ek Shringaar-Swabhimaan‘ said she is looking forward for a society where women can take their own decisions. She said,

“Although, there is a considerable improvement in female literacy levels in the last 10 years, but women still have not yet fully kicked off the shackles of dependence on men. Forget rural areas, even in urban centers women need their husband’s permission to take important decisions for their own life. We need to  make them understand that it’s good to consult your husband before taking some important decisions and listen to their advice, but it is equally important that you make your own decisions. I am looking forward to see women making their own choices without the influence of their husbands.”

“Do we need a day to celebrate the womanhood? Why do we need a day to pamper ourself? Why can’t we do it every day?,”

Amita Ka Amit’ and ‘Jhalli Anjali’ fame Chandni Bhagwanani asks.

Vishal Bhardwaj, who recently entered in ‘Meri Durga‘ said,

“I don’t think we need any special day to make them realize their importance in my life, when we can do that any day and any time. But having said that, I feel marking a special occasion would inspire everyone to put some extra efforts to show love and take out time from busy schedules to celebrate together. So There is no harm in it as well.”

Vishal appreciated Star Plus’ ‘nayi soch’ campaign with Aamir Khan and said,

“Such type of campaign breaks the stereotypes associated with the girl child from the society .” When quizzed, what better changes are you looking forward for the women in the country? The actor, who previously did the shows like Krishnadasi, Silsila Pyar Ka and Sasural Simar Ka quipped, “The first thing would be safety for women, they still feel insecure going at night and although women have come at par with the  men, there are few areas in our country where they are still considered weaker, their mentality and mindset needs to be changed.”

Janbaaz Zindbad and Saath Nibhana Saathiya fame, Harsh Rajput said,

“I feel not just the one, but everyday should be made special for the one, who has given life to us. Mothers, sisters, daughters, wives make our life complete. Why only one day? They deserve to be treated like a queen on each and every day.”
