#Fashionista: Anavila opens doors to her first ever flagship store!

Recognized for her innovative handloom textiles and famous for reviving the linen sari – designer Anavila Misra opens doors to her first ever flagship store! The buzz around this much-awaited store launch was evident from the enviably elite guests walking in.

Among the first ones to arrive with her best wishes for the designer was Sonam Kapoor dressed in a white handwoven linen sari with gold detailing and a beautiful hand-blockprinted linen blouse. The style diva spoke to the media about Anavila opening in Mumbai.

“I am very excited to be here in support of an incredible designer and of course also in support of handloom.” The actress expressed her love for saris saying, “I am so glad that Anavila is making such stunning and modern clothes. I hope all the young people wear these beautiful saris.”

The designer has been awarded for redefining the image of the sari into luxury pret. Her outfits in soft natural textiles, in subdued hues and languid silhouettes have been extremely well received by even the most discerning fashionistas.

Keeping the afternoon abuzz, were more celebrity patrons of the brand – Kiran Rao, Gauri Shinde, Avantika Khan, Swara Bhaskar, Sayani Gupta, Mini Mathur, Maria Goretti, Tisca Chopra, Tillotama Shome, Ashwini Yardi, Rasika Dugal, Auritra Ghosh and Priyanka Bose dressed in their favorite Anavila ensembles.

Much like the brand’s personality, the store stands in a serene street under the shade of old trees, with several plants around it. Showcasing the new AW 2016 collection, the spacious new Anavila store holds a beautiful collection of saris, tunics, kaftans, kurtas in handwoven fabrics. The line boasts of natural indigos and pretty hand block-printed designs. Apart from the usual fashion accessories like neckpieces and handbags, Anavila also displayed a home décor and dinnerware line.

Her love for saris is seen all across the space. Anavila has created a small collection of saris and blouses for little girls. This corner is playfully decorated with cute sari dolls!

“We have also included a small design studio for interacting with customers,” reveals the designer. “It is very encouraging to see that all the people we have dressed before have come forth to give their best at this landmark moment of the brand.”
