Monisha Jaising’s Dazzling “Riviera” Collection Which Moved Back To The Future!

Think of the sexy Parisian siren Brigitte Bardot lolling on the beaches of the French Riviera. Now take a look at Monisha Jaising’s “Riviera” collection, which took the audience back to the future at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 and closed Day Four with an inspired glamorous line.

Monisha’s muse had to be the bombshell Bardot, when she envisaged this collection and influenced the designer’s modernised Riviera look of the 1960’s and 1970’s. Her garments were definitely not for the demure wallflower. The Monisha Jaising woman may be naïve, but sexy, liberated and daring, to bare on the beaches and in the fashion playgrounds of the world. Monisha Jaising’s collection offered the adventurous dresser her trade mark kurtis that have created a unique individual genre in the global market. Monisha added relaxed flared pants and some really wildly printed pop coloured dresses that could move with great ease from beach to brunch. Finally, Manisha’s Red Carpet glamour for the sun, sea and sand moved from sensuous swimwear to the luxuriously body-hugging graceful gowns.

Opening the show with her trademark white mirror work swimwear, Monisha moved to a white corset sheath and jacket then onto her popular kurtis with various leather mirrorwork orange pants.Minis came in shades of sun yellow, green with mirror work, while a cut out gown was a sultry entry. The line of gowns, minis, racer back dresses, halters with the heavy zardozi bands was a great section.

Playing cleverly with hand knitted insets, Monisha placed them on one-shoulder gowns, sleeves and even on a kaftan. The sharply cut maroon and bottle green sequined blazers with jeans were a great brunch wear choice.

The assorted gowns, which are Monisha’s specialty, had deep plunging necklines; hip-high slits; lots of backless interest with sexy drapes and gold corsets to add drama to a black gown. The three white long creations with metallic insets in strategic places had a Riviera goddess vibe. The final sand coloured trio comprised plunge neck mini, a kimono option and a cross over sensuous gown.

Stopping the show was International model Ujjwala Raut who sashayed onto the ramp in a breathtaking sheer net crystal drenched, long sleeved gown. When the stylish lady of 2015 desires a great prét resort wear wardrobe, Monisha Jaising’s “Riviera” collection will turn her into a fashionable beachcomber.
