5X Fest Announces New Addition To Block Party Lineup
June 13-16, 2024| VIBC Society Celebrates 20 Years
(June 7, 2024) Surrey, BC – Celebrating 20 years highlighting creatives from the South Asian diaspora, VIBC is back with their 7th annual flagship event, 5X Fest on June 13th – 16, 2024. Next week will set the stage for some of today’s most exciting emerging names in South Asian music & art.
This multi-day, multi-venue festival lineup will include signature events like the 5X Blockparty and the 5X Art Party, along with the unique new addition of Self-Care Sunday, a half day explorative event highlighting the need for holistic health, especially in the world of creatives and artistry
5X Blockparty
Sponsored by Uber, the FREE 5X Blockparty is happening on June 15 at the Surrey Civic Plaza from 2 – 9pm and will showcase Surrey’s finest, including a concert, an array of food vendors, art installations & a vendor village.
Just announced today, the newest addition for the 5X Blockparty is Punjabi-Canadian hip-hop artist Prabh. Based in Alberta, Prabh was influenced by bhangra, modern pop, and R&B artists like John Legend and The Weeknd. Known for his massive hits such as “9:45” & “Veham,” Prabh stands out in modern Punjabi hip-hop and pop, gaining devoted fans in both the West and South Asia and has advanced desi diaspora pop and rap with his romantic and individualistic songs.
Prabh joins previously announced headliner performers:
Jassa Dhillon – Toronto-based singer, rapper and songwriter.
AR Paisley – Canada’s leading South Asian hip hop maverick, this Mississauga-based rapper won Hip Hop/Rap Artist of the Year at Canadian Music Week 2023.

The 5X Fest stage acts as a showcase of emerging and breakout artists who have often gone on to global stages and international festivals.
Immediately after the Blockparty, join us for the official 5X Fest Afterparty (19+), presented by THE SEEN, supported by 91 North Records. This year 5X Fest’s iconic private warehouse afterparty (that’s filled with artists and creators) will be open to the public! Spinning live from at this year’s 5X Afterparty from 10pm to 2am will be Hark, Kokaheena and Makaan.
5X Art Party
The annually sold-out 5X Art Party, returns on June 14 from 6- 11pm at the Beaumont Studios, with a new curator in Ritesh Matlani, creative director and owner of May 18 Florals. This iconic event is the ultimate place to meet emerging artists, and experience music, art, and connection.
2024 5X Art Party feature artists include: Kirn Gill, Aroshaliny, Ravi Gill, Srita Dole, Minu Art by Heart, TMV STUDIO by King Attili, & Shakun Jhangiani. These installations will be up at Beaumont Studios from June 10-28, 2024 with free viewing for the public.
Some other notable artist installations include:
Kiran Singh – a Vancouver based multimedia storyteller who has been honing his skills in creating wearable art that reflects the nuances of Punjabi language and literature.
Sumana Mahesh – a Creative Director with a degree in computer science engineering from Presidency University Bangalore. Her work spans over almost a decade of experiential laser shows, anamorphic projections, video projection mapping, holographic projections, and immersive installations. Sumana’s exhibit at the 5X Art Party fuses nature and technology together by bringing the life of a seedling to flower on a mesmerizing global journey. From the smallest potential of life, to a blossoming celebration of growth and beauty.
Satinder Dhillon – an Art Director, Designer, and Digital Artist, with a specialty in Branding. His goal is to design with purpose and create conversation. Satinder’s concept for his art installation at the 5X Art Party revolves around the journey we take to find our own path in this world. Using animation with floral imagery, Satinder found inspiration in the classic tale of the Hero’s Journey, which allows the protagonist of every story to bloom and find belonging – creating a place of their own within time.
Jason Pillay – an established, esteemed, and award nominated fashion stylist and costume designer in the heart-pounding world of entertainment. By incorporating South Asian elements and floral designs through fashion, Jason’s art installation at the 5X Art Party will convey a rich and captivating story of how flowers have forever lived on our fabrics, the armor we wear and something that carries us with confidence.
Jasmeen Khaira – an Indo-Canadian artist focused on sharing the experience of growing up with a split identity. Her art focuses on retaining the distinct identity that arises from the intersection of being Sikh woman and second generation Canadian.

Self-Care Sunday with 5X
Alongside their artistic initiatives, the organization is introducing a new event this year to honour the roots of wellness practices with the South Asian community. Self-Care Sunday with 5X a half day explorative event full of pure wellness vibes, including mindful practices such as breathwork, meditation, journaling, and movement, is happening on June 16 from 12-4:30pm at the And-Co Officesis. It will also include a fireside chat hosted by Summan Kandola with Gurnaz Sandhu and Joty Kay, two of the world’s top South Asian digital influencers. Joining them will be Bhav Toor Kang, a spiritual coach and Reiki teacher. They’ll be chatting about their wellness journeys and how they prioritize self-care in their busy routines, all the while staying authentic to who they are.
