“I pride myself in coming up with original stories. That is the road I will take ahead for all of my films,”

says young director Nikhil Allug when speaking of his directorial venture Shehjar (Shade). The film has been officially selected at India’s most prestigious film festival, the FIAPF accredited 22nd year of IFFK (International Film Festival Of Kerala), featuring some of the best 150 films from around the globe.

Shehjar is a suspense/drama film which revolves around a family on a journey from Kashmir to Mumbai . The film won the Interest of Japanese Lens Giants Sigma for its breathtaking cinematography by the multi credited Nikhil Allug who has also acted as the writer and director of the film.

For someone who has previously worked with the likes of Rajkumar Hirani, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and affiliate of Ram Gopal Varma it is a pleasant surprise to hear the 30 year old say that after having dabbled in horror, experimental cinema and now drama, his upcoming projects are different genres.

“My next 2 scripts are bound & ready, one is a twisted suspense thrillers and another is a quirky youthful romantic comedy with a social twist.”
