Keshav Maharaj has become one of the most talked about cricketers in South Africa and across the globe. His recent performance in the Test series against West Indies helped him make history for his national side.

The first test between the Proteas and West Indies ended in a draw as rain dampened the efforts of both sides in Port of Spain. The second test in Guyana saw South Africa win by 40 runs, thereby winning the series 1-0 and clinching the Sir Vivian Richards trophy.
In the journey to the rainbow nation’s victory in this series, Keshav Maharaj picked up eight wickets in the first test and five in the second. This brought his total wickets taken to 171, which he achieved in 52 test matches. It helped Keshav create a new record for South Africa as he surpassed the late Hugh Tayfield’s record of 170 wickets in 37 test matches, which he achieved between 1949 and 1960.
Apart from creating a new record for his country’s side, Keshav Maharaj was named the Player of the Series. Sharing his feelings after his team’s win with a post on Instagram, Maharaj shared,
“Keep the Faith, Keep the Belief and Keep Trusting the Process… 🇿🇦 #JaiShreeRaam 🙏🕉️”
