Pranati Khanna aka Peekay – proudly born & raised in Hyderabad, India. She was the lead singer of an indie band called “Spellcheck” (formerly The Ragamuffins) and thereafter embarked on my journey as a solo artist. She was raised surrounded by art and grew up listening to Rock & Roll thanks to my parents. Their music influences played a huge part in my songwriting, approach to my career, and singing style.

Pranati Khanna started performing at pubs while I was studying animation, in the hope to save enough money to pay for a course in design at Parsons, NYC. Although that dream did not materialize, I grew vastly popular in my city as a musician & designer. She went on to perform all over the country, open my own design firm as well as become a partner with an Olive Group speakeasy called Giggle Water which She turned into Hyderabad’s only Jazz bar & LGBTQ inclusive venue.

2020 was when She went solo and released my first single “Good, Old Fashioned in Love”. The track was produced by Grammy-nominated producer Jonathan Anand Wesley and hit 20,000 listens in the first month of release. I went on to release yet another single during the COVID-19 lockdown called “Dunno” and am following that with another super fun release (with Jonathan Anand Wesley) in March 2021 called “Much Better” which features a Red Bull artist collaboration for the dance video.

“I am grateful that my efforts to tell stories through my music and spread positivity and truth have not gone unnoticed. I received an ASIA INC. 500 award for my contribution to The Arts in 2016. Concept note:
“Much Better” is the kind of song you listen to first thing in the morning.
It screams joy, laughter, simplicity and sass.
The truth behind the song is that Peekay started hanging out with some of the kids in that lived in the basti behind her apartment and fell in love with their spirit. No Chanel – just Cricket!
Her second ever major release since her first in 2020 – Peekay has collaborated with Red Bull and fellow Opinion Leaders from Hyderabad to come out with a killer dance video to the song and they can’t wait for the world to dance with them soon!
