Shashank Vyas is back to his roots. The actor, who rose to fame with his character if Jagiya in ‘Balika Vadhu’, shot in Jodhpur for the first time, and is back there again. However, it is family that has pulled Shashank to the Sun City this time. He is there to celebrate Rakhi with his sister. The actor reached Jodhpur last week and is staying at his sister Shrashti Joshi‘s place.
While most celebs choose exotic locations to enjoy their breaks, Shashank, whose latest show, ‘Jaana Na Dil Se Door’ has recently gone off air, has been spending some quality time with his family.
Talking to us about his visit, the actor says,
“My last show has just ended so I thought of taking a break and meet my sister and spend some time with her. Jodhpur is a nice place to be in, I just love the city.”
`MY FIRST SHOOT WAS IN JODHPUR’
Jodhpur takes him to his ‘Balika Vadhu’ days, when he was a newbie. His first shot as well as entry was dramatic and he remembers it vividly.
“It was for the shoot of ‘Balika Vadhu’ and we shot at a heritage property. My entry was full of drama and I still remember the old beautiful structure where we were shooting, it is still fresh in my memories. As it was my first shoot, I will always remember it. I loved the way I was introduced in the show, a special entry, shot with a fort in the background,” he says.
`IT GIVES ME A KICK WHEN MY FANS IDENTIFY ME’
The actor shares with us the love and recognition he received from the fans at Jodhpur airport.
“When I came out of the airport, I heard people shouting `Arey yeh toh ‘Balika Vadhu’ wala Jagiya hai!’ It gives me a kick when people identify me by my on-screen characters,” he says.
`BEING ASSOCIATED WITH MARWARI CULTURE FEELS GREAT’
Shashank, who was born in Ujjain, told us about his association with Rajasthan and its Marwari culture. He talks about how he loves connecting with his roots.
“It feels great to be associated with Marwari culture as my roots are here, in this state,” he says, adding, “My family is originally from Rajasthan and migrated to Madhya Pradesh decades ago but thankfully my work keeps bringing me back to the state.”
NO MASALEDAAR FOOD FOR THIS FITNESS ENTHUSIAST
Festivals are associated with great food. However, Shashank, who follows a strict diet, has told his sister not to pamper him with food.
“I follow my exercise schedule and food chart very religiously. Before coming here, I told my sister not to pamper me and serve masaledaar food, especially gatte ki sabzi. But I will have dal-baati at least once. Ab Rajasthan aao toh woh toh banta hi hai,” he says.
SHASHANK’S LOVE FOR PEACEFUL PLACES
Talking about his busy shooting schedule, the actor says that he makes sure to take a breather regularly.
“Shooting for almost 12 hours a day for a daily soap becomes taxing at times. One needs break at regular intervals to rejuvenate oneself. I keep going on short breaks and I prefer visiting smaller and peaceful places rather than going to crowded places. Maybe it is because I come from a small city,” he says.
