After impressing the audience with roles in Teri Meri Doriyaann and Deewaniyat in recent years, actress Gouri Tonnk is now part of the stellar cast of Itti Si Khushi. She opens up about this, and also talks about her love for Ganesh Chaturthi!

How has the shoot been going? Is the character going as you expected?

It is going really well. The character is lovely and i have a lot of expectations from this character and i hope and pray that the character really grows as the days and story unfolds further. Its always challenging for an actor to get more to perform.

Is the character close to the kind of person you are?

Nandita and Gouri do have a lot of similarities but not on everything. Nandita can get a little over the top with certain things and Gouri is not. Nandita has a past for becoming so and everyone can relate to her but may find her freakishly difficult. Nandita’s germophobia levels are huge…and she has reasons for the same.

When did you start keeping Ganpati at home and how did this ritual come about?

I started keeping Ganpati right after my marriage, its been 22 years now and i love it and so does my family.
My family also absolutely enjoys these days and i feel blessed when Bappa comes home to be with us for those few days. My children are also learning slowly.

One thing you love about Ganesh Chaturthi, also we heard during the first two days you take a complete off from work and dedicate it to Ganesh ji completely.

I love the positive vibes about Ganesh Chaturthi – the feeling that everything will be fine everything will figure its way out, we bow in devotion and that’s all that matters. You have someone to speak your worries to and a belief that it will be all taken care of. And yes I don’t work at all on those two days i do’nt mind working around the clock, but i request my production those two days please allow me to be with Bappa because he is very important to me.
