Colors, together with Street Lamp Studios and Beehive Productions, teamed up for a brand-new show titled Binddii. The show features Sanchi Bhoyar, Radhika Muthukumar, and Krushal Ahuja, among others. It’s time for our verdict on this show!
Viewers are first introduced to Tihar jail in Delhi, where Kajal (Radhika Muthukumar) gives birth to a baby girl who is named Binddii. As the years go by, Binddii becomes a source of joy and hope for Kajal and the rest of the inmates and wardens. Binddii then reaches an age where she can no longer live in jail with her mother, as per the law. Kajal is left in a heartbreaking situation, but sends Binddii to her brother in Mathura, even though she has had no communication with him for years.
When Binddii reaches Mathura, we meet Kajal’s brother, Saurav (Abhishek Rawat), and his wife, Sudha (Harleen Kaur Rekhi), and their two children. Saurav was under the impression that his sister was dead, but he accepts Binddii. Throughout the first week, we learn that Kajal was framed for the death of her husband, Aviraj’s sister-in-law. Aviraj (Krushal Ahuja) and his brother, Dayanand (Manav Gohil), are up to no good, and many questions arise regarding why Aviraj married her in the first place.
Binddii’s journey to rescuing her mother from jail, and Kajal’s journey to proving her innocence, will seemingly form the rest of the story.
The concept is unique to Hindi television, and that’s always a good thing. We have seen many stories led by children, but Binddii’s jail background and her limited knowledge about the reality of jails make this one different. The complicated past of Kajal, her maternal home, and her in-laws all contribute to an intense and interesting narrative as well.
Sanchi Bhoyar is a delight to watch as Binddii, as she naturally performs every nuance so beautifully and captures the innocence and bravery of the character perfectly. Radhika Muthukumar returns to our screens as broken but brave Kajal. She beautifully translates Kajal’s motherly affection and her painful past into feelings the audience can connect to. Krushal Ahuja’s character of Aviraj is undoubtedly different, and he executes the role well. Manav Gohil is sure to send shivers down your spine as Dayanand. The actor never fails to impress and with this character, it seems we are in for a thrilling ride thanks to his character and performance. Another fine actor, Abhishek Rawat, excels as Saurav, combining love, warmth, and strength for his character. Harleen Kaur Rekhi is great as Sudha, too, and brings forth the humour and selfishness of the character well.
The show has many strong characters, and connecting the dots between them is what makes this show exciting and captivating. It will be interesting to see for how long Kajal remains in jail, as the story will move forward once she is out of jail. Another concern is that Binddii’s lack of knowledge about jails should also not be prolonged, as being overly innocent has become a bit of a cliché with child characters. It will be refreshing to see a child who is able to bravely defend her mother with full knowledge of the situation, and rescue her from jail, which is what she hopes to do.
Overall, Binddiiis an interesting watch and a show that will get more interesting as secrets are unraveled and characters progress.
Based on the show so far, Binddii gets a super 8 out of 10.
Binddii airs every day on Colors worldwide.
