Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani review: A Captivating and Soul-Stirring Story

Spread the love

Magic Moments Motion Pictures and Colors TV recently launched their new show, ‘Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani.’ The show, which features Pranali Rathod, Aashay Mishra, and Indira Krishna in its primary cast, has been on air for two weeks, and it’s time to see if the show manages to be called ‘one to watch’.

Set in Rajasthan, ‘Durga’ opened up by showing viewers how Durga’s father passed away due to the carelessness of a prince from the royal family. To prevent facing the anger of Durga’s tribe, the servant of the royal family, Paanibai, announces that the family will adopt Durga. Paanibai, also from the tribe, had loved the king of the palace, but due to differences in their background, she could not become his wife. This left a permanent scar on Paanibai, and she plans to use Durga to avenge whatever humiliation she feels she faced in the palace. Durga grows up having a strong bond with Anurag, a prince of the palace, and this threatens Paanibai’s plans.
Durga dreams of becoming a doctor, thereby also breaking away from the norms of society. Anurag’s father is a politician and pretends to raise her like his daughter to win votes from the tribal community.
With many conspiracies within the palace, viewers can expect to see if Durga’s dreams become a reality and if her and Anurag’s love story can beat the odds against it.
As evident, the premise is unusual, which is what we need at the moment, but what makes this story so compelling is how various secrets and intentions are set to unravel from members of the palace. The characters are multi-layered and raise your curiosity with even a single glimpse. For example, Anurag’s mother, Aarti, is a woman of few words, but the power within her is there, and we wonder when we will see it. On the other hand, there is Indira, another daughter-in-law of the palace, who, along with her husband, seem to have plans and wrong intentions of their own. The point here is that the show succeeds in creating unique and interesting characters that leave you in suspense for their next move.
In terms of performances, words will not be enough to praise the cast! Pranali Rathod is the epitome of grace in her role of Durga. In just the first few episodes, we got to see the soft and strong sides of the character, which she executes with finesse, and we cannot wait to see her journey and growth as Durga. Aashay Mishra brings forward his fine acting skills, which we’ve observed for a while now, and his great screen presence is evident as the charming and heartfelt Anurag. And where do we even begin with Indira Krishna? The actress is a powerhouse, and that is for sure. Her portrayal of Paanibai will leave you intrigued and maybe a little scared, but the best part is how effortlessly she does it! For the first time, we see a negative character in a strange but perfect tuning with the leading pair, and their scenes are a delight to watch. Pranali and Aashay’s chemistry is magical, as their scenes are a treat to watch too, so don’t be surprised if #DuAn becomes the next hit pairing!
Parineeta Borthakur, another actor known for her fine performances, is seen in a positive role, but we cannot wait to see how her story unfolds and if there’s more than what meets the eye. Rishi Kaushik’s portrayal of Rajesh is another performance which grabs your attention as he once again executes the role of a baddie to perfection. Jasjeet Babbar, Digvijay Purohit, Jaya Binju Tyagi, Krrishna Soni, Aditi Asija and the rest of the cast are also fantastic, and we can’t wait to see more of them as the story progresses.
With its beautiful story made up of fresh and intriguing characters, ‘Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani‘ manages to make a place in your heart. The backdrop of a palace and Rajasthan add to the viewing experience, and it’s a show which seems unpredictable, and we hope that remains. The show deserves your watch, and you may just be addicted to the newest tale of love, dreams and conspiracy.
Durga – Atoot Prem Kahani’ airs Monday to Sunday at 7:40 p.m. on Colors in India and South Africa, 9 p.m. in the UK, and ET at 5:30 p.m. and PT 2:30 p.m. in the US.
