Shrimad Ramayan, currently airing on Sony TV, enjoys a loyal viewership and is the number-one show on the channel. The show stars Sujay Reu, Prachi Bansal, Basant Bhatt, Nirbhay Wadhwa and Nikitin Dheer in pivotal roles.
Sita (Prachi Bansal) is currently in Lanka after being kidnapped by Ravana (Nikitin Dheer) and sits under the Ashoka Vatika tree with faith that Ram will come to rescue her and deliver justice. There were two recent scenes which featured Sita and Ravana engaging in a faceoff of words.
The first saw Ravan inviting Sita to his library, which contains books of immense knowledge. Ravana wanted Sita to test his knowledge, hoping it would pass him off as superior to Ram. Ravana delivered all the knowledge he knew, but it was Sita’s interpretations and applications of that knowledge which made the scene even more engaging.
The second saw Ravan showing Sita his auditorium and throne and promising her that she would be the queen sitting next to him while also demeaning Ram. Sita courageously told him that Ram gives her infinite happiness and that the support and love of a husband is all a woman needs from him.
These two scenes saw a faceoff between Ravan and Sita, and what brought viewers to the edge of their seats was the spectacular performances of Nikitin Dheer and Prachi Bansal. The conviction with which Nikitin Dheer plays Ravan makes the larger-than-life Ravan appear more realistic. The energy which Prachi Bansal gives off as the empowered Sita is infectious and clearly sends off messages to viewers.
We must say, the episodes of Shrimad Ramayan get better each day, and the performances of the cast have a huge hand in it!
Shrimad Ramayan airs Monday to Friday at 9 p.m. on Sony TV worldwide!
