Imlie on Star Plus is a show which has cemented itself as a progressive and heart-warming story of fighting all odds irrespective of one’s background. Produced by Gul Khan, the show is in its third generation and features Sai Ketan Rao and Adrija Roy in the lead roles of Surya and Imlie.
There has been high-voltage drama lately on the show ever since Surya’s family entered. The Reddy family consists of Surya’s mother, sister, aunts and uncle, along with his cousin. His aunt Indira (Jaya Bhattacharya) is the matriarch of the household and has shown a strong dislike for Imlie from the beginning. While Imlie struggles to make a place in the Reddy family’s hearts, Surya’s ex-girlfriend Anjali also arrives to further complicate things. Anjali is possessive of Surya and is somewhat obsessed with marrying him.
Despite the various misunderstandings Surya and Imlie have, they still end up coming to an understanding each time. Their bond has always been unusual, but viewers have seen Surya making efforts in his marriage ever since Imlie found out Agastya died because he was mistaken for Surya. He also tried to undo some of the mistakes he made to Imlie. While showing her care for Surya, Imlie is also learning about the dynamics of the family and understands that some are out to get her.
A recent scene was filled with cuteness whereby Imlie wanted to clear some misunderstandings with Surya but he was asleep, and ended up writing her message on his bandage as suggested by his cousin.
With so many hurdles on their way, how will Imlie and Surya overcome them and allow their love to bloom? Guess we’ll have to wait and watch!
Imlie airs every day at 8:30 p.m. on Star Plus in India and South Africa, 10 p.m. on Utsav Plus in the UK, and streams on Hulu in the US.
