Shardul Pandit

Did you always wanted to become an actor?

As far as I can remember, I always wanted to be an actor. But, I was extremely fat when I was young so I used to never tell people that I want to act. People used to laugh at me when I told them, because I was really overweight and I used to stammer too.

Are you happy with the way your career has progressed so far?

Actors are never happy with the way their career shapes up because they always want more. But yes, I am very glad that my career is being very different because someone who left the industry 3-4 years ago, got a comeback as a VJ then as a lead of Kuldeepak, then as a host and commentator of MTV BCL. This doesn’t happen with people, people vanish for 6 months and their career is considered over.

What is the best and worst part of being an actor?

The best part about being an actor is that when you’re acting you feel a spiritual connection with the Almighty. Like Shah Rukh Khan says, I believe like you are a different person when on set. It’s an outer body experience. The worst part is waiting for the right role.

Do you have many friends in the industry? Who are your friends?

Because I have been the host and commentator for BCL, a lot of people know me in the industry but I don’t call everybody a friend. You come to know who your true friends are in bad times. I have very few friends from the industry. Ankita Bhargava is a very close friend. I am friends with Arshi Khan, Charu Mehra, Rafi Malik, Deepak Sandhu & Mrunal Jain. These people are my close friends.

How was your experience hosting MTV BCL?

My experience on hosting BCL was lovely, fantastic, rocking. I am getting such good feedback from my actor friends and from my fans. I enjoyed a lot. No one could say that I was hospitalized a day before BCL started. I loved every bit of hosting BCL. Now that it is a bigger hit than Roadies, I am even more happy.

What are the three things you simply can’t stand?

  1. I cannot stand dishonesty. I hate people who lie or fake or pretend something else.
  2. I cannot stand Whatsapp. I hate typing on Whatsapp.
  3. I cannot stand backbiting and politics. I love people being upfront about whatever they what.
  4. I completely hate inefficiency. God has given you opportunity, but some people don’t work hard for it. I hate that.

What have you learnt from your relationships?

That not everyone can fulfil your expectations and not everyone can love you as much as you do. And it’s okay. So sometimes, it’s just okay to love and not except anything in return.

Which is your most embarrassing moment?

The recent one is when I was shooting for Kuldeepak with Keerti Nagpure and my zip was open in a romantic scene and I realized it halfway through the scene.

What are your future projects?

I cannot talk about it right now. All I can say is fingers crossed.
