After winning hearts with his performance in Sony Liv’s RKFC – Real Kashmir Football Club, actor Khusshal Maggo is on a roll and recently shared screen space with acclaimed filmmaker Zoya Akhtar.
The twist being, Zoya Akhtar was his co-actor for a recent commercial project for CEAT which was shot internationally.
What made this experience particularly special was sharing the screen with Zoya Akhtar- one of the most respected storytellers in Indian cinema. Known for her nuanced filmmaking and distinct voice, Zoya stepping in front of the camera to act had to be something different.
“It was definitely a new experience to share screen space with an established director like Zoya ma’am. She is really fun to shoot with, very genuine and humble,” Khusshal says.
He spoke about an ice breaking moment between Zoya and him, “We had just landed at the Baku airport and I was introduced to Zoya ma’am and told that she is going to be my co-actor. It was a surprise! But then she said, ‘You are the actor, so you’ll have to guide me through the project.’ That was a really good icebreaker, which helped us have an easy flow during the shoot,” *he added*
The shoot took place at a picturesque international location, adding to the thrill of the concept. Despite the scale of the production, Khusshal says he felt completely at ease, “I wasn’t really nervous, actually I was rather excited to share the screen with Zoya ma’am. The concept was thrilling, with a beautiful location, and since I knew Bob sir and the crew from before, I was more at ease, I would say.”
For Khusshal, the collaboration came as a pleasant continuation of creative partnerships he had built earlier.
The actor had recently shot two commercials under the direction of Shashank Chaturvedi (fondly known as Bob), and the professional synergy they developed during those projects paved the way for this new opportunity.
