Banita Sandhu: My perception of Bollywood has changed since I came to India

With less than a week left to the release of Shoojit Sircar’s October starring Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu, we bet everyone is looking forward to the film.

On Sunday, we caught up with the director Shoojit and the leading lady Banita in a group chat to know what is going through their minds at this moment.

The duo talked about the hard work that went into filming the movie and their rapport with the cast and crew of the film. Banita opened up about her perception about Bollywood before and after being a part of October. Shoojit spoke at length about the importance of the script and writers in making a film successful.

Read on to know all that the actress and director had to say:

Talking about working with Varun Dhawan, the 20 year old debutant said,

“Varun is the best first co-star I could ask for.”

She continued saying that it’s not because of his fan following or box-office success, but because he is genuinely a nice person.
Being her debut Bollywood film, we had got to know that Varun was pretty protective of her. Elaborating on it, Banita said,

“I definitely felt protected, I still very much feel protected. I don’t do the Bollywood norm stuff, I feel protected all this stuff.”

Banita, who is based in England made a statement at the interview by saying,

“My perception of Bollywood has changed since I came to India.”

Shoojit Sircar, believes in delivering good movies and doesn’t concern himself with the commercial success of the film. When asked about his Friday plans, we were shocked to hear this,

“On the release date of the film I’m shooting a commercial with Amitabh Bachchan.”

Talking about getting the actors to act natural, Shoojit said,

“(While filming) I try to give them the comfort that no one is around besides the cameraman behind the camera while shooting.”

Talking about its music Shoojit said,

“This film is completely dependent on its background score. The songs are merrily promotional songs.”

He continued,

“The background score is most important, cause this only evokes the emotions in the film.”
