The first teaser promo of one of the most talked about film ‘Umeed’ was launched recently. The film, which is based on the unethical drug trials that are carried out in India on a massive scale, exposes and uncovers the dark truths of medical science and stresses on the vulnerability of the issue. ‘Umeed’ is country’s first medical drama inspired by true events.
Says Rajat Mukherjee, the film’s director,
“‘Umeed’ speaks about this grim hard hitting issue where people are uninformed and not aware of the fact that it’s a clinical trial and not a vaccination program as perceived by the public leading to serious deaths which is equivalent to murder in the name of experimentation.”
‘Umeed’ deals with various aspects of unethical clinical drug trials which are conducted in India in the name of vaccination programs and sheds light on the same through the lead character in the film.
‘Umeed’, a medical thriller film which revolves around a celebrity who gets misused in the unethical drug trial, has been crafted with an extremely entertaining and engrossing screenplay, and has characters inspired by real life personalities. It comprises an ensemble cast featuring Freddy Daruwala, Anjali Patil and Pallavi Das in the lead, along with Dalip Tahil, Milind Gunaji, Mohan Kapoor, Harsh Chhaya, Achint Kaur, Yatin Karyekar, Shishir Shara. Directed by Rajat Mukherjee, ‘Umeed’ is produced by Welcome Friends Productions and presented by the brand S.O.I.E.
The film is set to release soon in theatres.
