Ayushmann Khurrana: I’ll be very skeptical if I chose any conventional project

Who would’ve thought that a film would be made on the issue of erectile dysfunction? But ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ is one such film. After ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’, it seems like another quirky film for Ayushmann Khurrana.

Says the actor, “I’ll be very skeptical if I chose any conventional project. I’m all for unconventional films. You have to carve your own niche in the industry. And these kinds of films work for me. ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’ and ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ are quirky subjects. This (‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’) is an antithesis of ‘Vicky Donor’.”

The actor adds, “The best thing about cinema is that it mirrors society. You’ll see a mirror in this film about the problems (like erectile dysfunction) which people talk about discreetly. But we have not make fun of anything. The film has the message that manliness is not just about getting it (dick) up. It’s about being chivalrous, being a nice person and a nice character.”
