The Women’s Premier League (WPL) began on a strong and meaningful note as Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu officially opened the WPL Opening Ceremony on January 9. The Miss Universe 2021 winner, who is also a Gen Z icon representing India globally, marked a special moment in Indian sports and entertainment by opening the ceremony in the presence of Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of Indian Women’s National team.
Breaking away from the usual format, Harnaaz did not perform at the ceremony. Instead, she led and opened the event, welcoming the world’s best women cricketers, including Harmanpreet Kaur. Her presence as a champion greeting other champions made the moment truly iconic and powerful, celebrating women who lead and win on the global stage.
