‘Bakaiti’ is a new limited series on ZEE5 Global, produced by Dice Media, and starring Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Tanya Sharma, and Aaditya Shukla that just released on August 1.
The series, consisting of seven episodes, follows the Kataria family in Old Ghaziabad as they grapple with a financial crunch, and decide to rent out a room in their familial home to earn additional money. This forces their daughter and son, Naina and Bharat, to share a room together, which increases the siblings’ fights and disagreements, in addition to eventually bringing them closer.
Sheeba Chaddha and Rajesh Tailang bring authenticity to their roles as parents who are trying to make the best decision for their family, while also dealing with the reality of their financial situation. Chaddha specifically brings warmth to her character as she stands up for her children against Tailang’s character at times, and that isn’t something audiences are used to seeing in on-screen middle class families.
Naina, played by Tanya Sharma, showcases the raw emotions of a college-aged girl, who has dreams that she is aiming to fulfill. As Naina and Bharat fight onscreen and squabble as siblings, Sharma and Shukla look like real-life siblings who will fight, but stand up for each other, especially as they start to learn the actual financial situation their family is in, and the sacrifices they will have to make.
‘Bakaiti’ is a perfect family watch and you will find yourself invested in these characters and how they develop over the seven episodes.
