In a move that signals a bold new musical chapter for Bollywood, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has introduced rising music talent Rishabh Kant, popularly known as The Rish, in its upcoming cinematic venture Saiyaara. Backed by one of the most revered production houses in Indian cinema, Saiyaara marks Rishabh’s official Bollywood debut with the emotionally gripping track, “Barbaad” — already generating buzz across streaming platforms and social media.
A collaboration between Mohit Suri, the mastermind behind chartbusters from Aashiqui 2 and Ek Villain, and the young music prodigy, Saiyaara is more than just a film — it’s a launchpad for a fresh sonic wave in mainstream Hindi cinema.
“The song isn’t written the typical Bollywood way — and that’s exactly what we set out to do,” says Rishabh. “Barbaad is raw, poetic, and emotionally restless — just like a first heartbreak.”
“Barbaad”, sung soulfully by Jubin Nautiyal, traces an emotional arc of vulnerability, longing, and surrender. Rishabh shares, “Jubin’s voice naturally carries romance. He doesn’t just sing the words — he lives them. The transition the lyrics explore needed that depth, and Jubin delivered beyond expectations.”
For Rishabh, whose indie music has already found an audience online, Saiyaara represents a career-defining leap into the Bollywood spotlight.
“I’m in my 20s with no film background. Debuting with Yash Raj Films — it’s surreal. This is the studio that defines legacy. Saiyaara is special because it represents the future of Bollywood — in sound, story, and soul.”
Rishabh credits Mohit Suri for being a musical mentor in the process. “He’s always been the gold standard. Mohit doesn’t just direct scenes — he builds soundscapes. Working with him pushed me creatively in ways I never imagined. He saw something in my writing and helped elevate it to something cinematic and lasting.”
