Actress Manjari Fadnnis chats about the pressures that come with being an actor, the recent unfortunate events happening around the world, and shares whats on the horizon work-wise.
Do you think as an actor the world is more critical of things you say and do?
I guess it comes with the profession. Since actors are by default – ‘Influencers’, what they say or do is more deeply scrutinised. Which is a little unfair especially since at times some things we say casually also are sometimes taken out of context & blown out of proportion.
In my early days in the profession, when i was way too young & inexperienced to handle media interactions, i was misquoted a few times back then, though nothing major, but still affected me & i felt judged. I became very conscious after that about what i’m saying in the media. I started measuring everything i said which sadly takes away from the authenticity of who i am & what i truly feel. Honestly I still sometimes struggle with it. But overtime i’ve been learning to be kinder to myself & allowing myself to be free & make mistakes & be human & be more carefree, while i do understand & embrace the power & responsibility that comes with being a public personality.
The recent mishaps around the world how have you taken to it and what are your thoughts?
Its extremely disturbing – what we have been watching & hearing constantly on whats going around in the world…
In such times while we don’t have the control of whats occurring around the world whether acts of God, some sick evil humans or be it war politics.
The only thing we have in our hands to do, is either raise a voice for something you strongly feel about, or just pray & hope for the best outcome possible. But most importantly to count our blessings & be grateful for the small or big kindness life has just gifted us with & value the close people in our lives.
You have been someone who has been choosy of your projects what makes you say yes or no to a project instantly ?
Honestly through my career, not that I’ve had a buffet of options to choose from 😅 I chose the best from what i was offered honorably & most times what drives my choices whether yes or no instantly, is Strong Instincts.
