Model and actress Alankrita Sahai has gained appreciation for her work in pageants and music videos, with her song ‘Coka’ garnering over 554 million views across platforms. Sahai was crowned Miss India in 2014, and started working in acting projects post her run as the crowned winner. She recently spoke with us about moving from modeling to acting, and her upcoming projects.

1. What are the major differences between the modeling/pageant world and the film industry?

The major differences between the modeling/pageant world and the film industry lie in their focus and requirements. In modeling, the emphasis is primarily on physical appearance and the ability to pose, while in the film industry, acting skills, character depth, and storytelling play pivotal roles. Modeling often involves brief moments in front of the camera, whereas acting requires long-term engagement with a character and narrative.

2. When you made the switch over during your debut in “Love Per Square Foot”, how did you get into your character?

Making the transition during my debut in “Love Per Square Foot” was an exciting challenge. To get into my character, I spent time researching the role and understanding the character’s emotions and motivations. I also drew from personal experiences and worked closely with the director and my co-stars to fully embody the character and bring authenticity to the performance.

3. Your social work and advocacy has also gained you a lot of appreciation, especially during COVID. How have you taken that work forward, and what are your future plans?

My social work and advocacy, especially during COVID-19, have been incredibly fulfilling. I have continued to engage with communities and support various initiatives aimed at helping those in need. Looking forward, I plan to expand my efforts by collaborating with organizations focused on health education and mental well-being, addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.

4. Do you have any upcoming acting projects you can speak on?

I do have some upcoming acting projects that I’m really excited about! While I can’t disclose too many details just yet, I can say that they will showcase diverse stories and allow me to explore new dimensions as an actor. Keep an eye out for announcements in the coming months!
