The ICC Champions Trophy is back after eight years and it has certainly been making the headlines as cricket lovers worldwide have another tournament to enjoy. We take a look at South Asian cricketers to watch out for as they represent their countries which are outside of Asia.
Adil Rashid
This bowler has risen to the occasion many times for the English national squad. Adil is said to be of Pakistani descent. Adil has taken 213 wickets in ODI matches during his career and ranks 22nd in terms of the ICC ODI bowling rankings. English fans will be waiting to see if he turns out to be their saviour in coming matches.
Keshav Maharaj
The well-known South African bowler’s roots can be traced to Sultanpur, in Uttar Pradesh in India. Keshav stands at 6th place in the ICC ODI bowling rankings and has turned out to be South Africa’s super weapon on many occasions in the past.
Rachin Ravindra
The 25 year old New Zealand batter may require no introduction. Rachin’s parents hail from Bangalore in India. He is currently 44th on the ICC ODI batting rankings, and in a few years, he has become a name fans look forward to watching as he can surprise the opposition.
Saqib Mahmood
The 27 year old right-arm fast bowler for England has his roots tracing to Pakistan. The rising talent has been compared to Pakistani legend Waqar Younis in the past.
Tabraiz Shamsi
This South African bowler has roots tracing to India. The left-arm wrist spinner has played in various formats and leagues across the globe. He is known for often providing his masterstrokes when the country needs it most.
Tanveer Sangha
The 23 year old Australian bowler is the son of parents hailing from India and Fiji. He is a talent on the rise and some of his noteworthy achievements include becoming the youngest Australian to take four wickets in a T20 international match. It will be exciting to see him play in his debut Champions Trophy tournament.
