In an exclusive interview, singer Saloni Thakkar opened up about her latest chartbuster, Namo Namah Shivaya, from the film Thandel, and her journey in music. The track, composed by the legendary Devi Sri Prasad (DSP), has been receiving immense love and millions of views. “Collaborating with DSP Sir is nothing short of magical. Everything about this song feels grand—the sound, the production, and the spiritual energy dedicated to Lord Shiva,” she shared. Praising DSP’s unparalleled passion for music, Saloni called the experience unforgettable. “He is a musical genius, and being a part of his vision for such a divine composition has been an honor,” she added.
Saloni has also been making a mark with her independent music alongside her film projects. When asked about the difference between the two, she emphasized her consistent dedication to both. “For me, the process of recording is about giving my best, whether it’s an independent track or a film song,” she said. However, she acknowledged the challenges of promoting independent music, which demands greater effort. Despite this, her songs have gone viral on YouTube with minimal external promotion. “I believe it’s the quality and richness of the music that stand out. I always ensure my independent tracks are just as impactful as my film songs,” she explained.
Reflecting on the creation of Namo Namah Shivaya, Saloni recalled her first interaction with DSP. “He praised my rendition of Shri Krishna Govind on YouTube, which made me feel proud and at ease. We later met at a Mumbai studio along with Shreya Ghoshal Ji—it was a surreal experience to work alongside such legends,” she shared. DSP’s infectious energy and meticulous approach to the song inspired Saloni throughout the recording process. Finding out she would be lending her voice to Sai Pallavi was an additional thrill. “Sai Pallavi has a magical screen presence, and giving voice to her performance felt truly special,” Saloni said.
Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be an extraordinary year for Saloni. Her latest track ‘Heer -Drill Version’ from movie ‘Fateh’ is out. She has sung the track long with B Praak, Vishal Mishra and Asees Kaur. Saloni also has multiple projects lined up with renowned composers and is exploring opportunities with music labels for her independent work. “It’s exciting to experiment with different styles and connect with my audience in new ways,” she said. Saloni remains committed to creating music that resonates deeply with her listeners.
From soulful renditions to grand-scale compositions, Saloni Thakkar’s journey is a testament to her talent and dedication. Whether collaborating with legends or crafting her unique sound in the independent music scene, she continues to leave an indelible mark on the industry. Fans can undoubtedly look forward to a year of memorable music from her.
