As we close out of New York fashion week for the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, here are the eye-catching, most gripping, dramatic, and stylish trends straight from the runway.
1. Exposed Lingerie
First of the 2022 fashion trends is exposed lingerie. Easily one of the most controversial trends, but we are seeing exposed bras, slips as dresses, corsets for street style, and lingerie as daywear being a norm.
2. Cutout Dresses
Cutouts were so in last year and the trend continues. Delicate slashes, intricate string action and so much diversity in geometry all making sure that this trend isn’t going away any time soon.
3. Power of Suits
Whether it is in a pantsuit or a mini skirt suit, we’re seeing the power of suits take over the runway. Once upon a time, suits only belonged to men, but now we’re seeing all forms, colors, and patterns of suits and blazers taking over the runway for women.
4. Fringe
2022 fashion is going to be all things fringe. We saw brands from Chloe, Balmain, Dior and so many others making a splash with dramatic, cascading fringe.
5. Cape Galore
Nothing screams royalty or superhero quite like capes and trust us there were plenty of powerful, bold displays of capes. Most of the cape styles were accompanied with evening wear in vibrant, chic displays.
6. Y2K & Minis
This 2021 trend is definitely continuing into 2022 with metallics, mini skirts, crop tops, low-waisted skirts and jeans, and sparkly makeup.
7. Trench All Day
Trench might be a fall, winter staple, but you can be sure trenches will be visible all year round. With different colors, fabrics and cuts, but trenches are here to stay.
8. Pastels, Pastels, Pastels
Yes, it’s true pastels are making a huge comeback along with earthy neutrals. While there was an abundance of pinks and blues, make sure to add hints of green, especially kelly green and sunset orange.
9. Catsuits
Thanks to Kim Kardashian and Beyonce already donning these well ahead of the trend, the runway saw so many brands debuting their version and style of catsuits. Obviously, the Balenciaga ones remain the most iconic.
10. Sequin All Night
Just when you thought you could put away the sequins after New Year, you’re wrong. Sequins and shiny fabrics are so the 2022 fashion. Honestly, the more sparkle, the better.
11. Big Accessories
Everything is big this summer and spring season: huge platforms, oversized totes, supersized sunnies, and bold headgear that makes a statement.
