Today, as it completes 21 years, we walk down the memory lane and talk about some of the characters who are as important in the movie as Rahul, Tina and Anjali are. These characters not only played a significant role in the film but also left a mark behind with their stellar performances.

1. Archana Puran Singh as Ms. Briganza

Stylish, sexy and everyone’s crush in St. Xavier’s College, Mrs. Briganza is our all-time favourite English teacher from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Her romance with Mr. Malhotra (Anupam Kher) in the film is aww-dorable! Be it teaching her students about love in her English class or showing off her sexy moves in the song “ Koi Mil Gaya”, Archana Puran Singh as Ms. Briganza is a teacher we all want.

2 Anupam Kher As Mr. Malhotra

Hahaha! This is one character in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is that has not only made us laugh but also made us emotional. Anupam Kher as Mr. Malhotra or Taklu (as Rahul fondly calls him in the film) is the principal of the renowned St. Xaviers College. Always trying his best to maintain discipline in the college, his camaraderie with his students and his romance with Mrs. Briganza is one of the cynosures of the film. As a doting father and grandfather, Mr. Malhotra shows his different side too that moved us.

3. Johnny Lever As col. Almeida

Half Indian and Half American, Johnny Lever’s character as Col. Almeida still makes us laugh aloud. His constant sweet banter with Farida Jalal’s character (Mrs. Khanna) in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is unmissable & keeps you laughing throughout.

4. Farida Jalal as Mrs. Khanna

One of the coolest grandmother on-screen that Kuch Kuch Hota Hai gave us. Mrs. Khanna is a religious and supportive grandmother to Anjali in the film. She loves Anjali very much and even accompanies her for her summer camp. Isn’t she uber cool? How can we forget her constant sweet banter with Almeida in the summer camp that makes out laugh throughout?

5. Parzan As Silent Sardaji

‘Silence speaks louder than words’ and Parzan as Silent sardaji stuck true to this proverb in the film. He made you smile & made you cry with his adorable tactics. “Tussi jaa rhe ho, Tussi na jao’’, this dialogue is still etched in our heart & it is hard to forget because it struck the right chord with us.

6. Reema Lagoo As Anjali’s Mother

In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Reema Lagoo plays a single mother, who always wanted good for her daughter, Reema Lagoo’s character as Mrs. Sharma is a perfect portrayal of a doting mother. Sweet, supportive and Aman’s favourite (He loved her more than Anjali), she has an important role in the film that weaves the story properly.

7. Himani Shivpuri As Rifat bi

Her character of Rifat bi in the film broke all misconceptions about wardens being strict. She was not a warden but a mother to all the girls under her care. From helping them with their makeup to being a pillar of support for Anjali, Rifat bi is one character we look up to, even today.

8. Salman Khan As Aman

How can we forget him? Our favourite Aman. Even though he had a cameo in the film but he definitely won our hearts with his simplicity, his personality and most importantly his love for Anjali. Salman Khan as Aman became everyone’s crush and he still is. He was a pure soul and an equally affecting character.
