Prassthanam is the political drama starring Sanjay Dutt. It is the Hindi remake of the 2010 Telugu film by the same name. A remake of the south hit film by the same name. The movie has been in news since the launch of its first look. With an exceptional star-cast, the film is the story about power, greed, love and human fallacies. Set in a contemporary political family, Prassthanam deals with complex questions on dharma, morality, desire, right and wrong.
Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff will be sharing the screen space together after twelve years. The stars were last seen in 2007 film Eklavya: The Royal Guard. The duo has been friends for many years and worked on numerous films together.
Keeping their friendship aside, Jackie was offered the film as the makers thought he would be apt for the role. Speaking about the cast, Director Deva Katta says,
“I got an opportunity to work with such senior actors from the industry. Jackie dada and Sanjay Dutt, who share a great bond in real life, are a delight to watch on the screen together.” Along with Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, the film also features Manisha Koirala, Chunky Panday, Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur and Satyajeet Dubey.
Speaking about the film, Sanjay Dutt recently revealed why he decided to produce the film. He said,
“We decided to back Prassthanam because it’s a great film that provides entertainment. We chose politics as the backdrop as we wanted to target the heartland of the country.”
Prassthanam will also see the trio of Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala and Sanjay Dutt together on-screen again. The three actors have earlier worked together in Kartoos. They collaborated after 20 years for Prassthanam.
Speaking about the same, Jackie said,
“There was a free flow of energy because, for us, it was like picking up from where we had left off. Even though the industry is a small world sometimes it takes years for friends to meet and working together takes even longer.’’
Directed by Deva Katta, Sanjay S. Dutt’s presents, produced by Maanayata Dutt, Prassthanam stars Sanjay S Dutt, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Chunky Panday, Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur & Satyajeet Dubey. The film releases on 20th September 2019.
