After Soorma, Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in Game Over, will be seen in another biopic.
Now Taapsee Pannu will be seen playing Indian female cricket team captain Mithali Raj. Raj is the first woman to play in 200 ODI matches.
The biopic will be helmed by Viacom 18. Director for the film is yet to be finalised. The film was initially announced in 2017, but this is first real update after the announcement about the film.
For those who don’t know, Mithali is often regarded as one of the greatest batswomen to have ever played the game, she is the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000 run mark in WODIs. She is the first player to score seven consecutive 50s in ODIs.
Taapsee already has a sports background as she has played hockey in films like Soorma and Manmarziyaan.
On the work front, Taapsee will also be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s Saand Ki Aankh which also stars Bhumi Pednekar.
Taapsee will undergo rigorous training to essay the role of ace cricketer Mithali Raj.
After so many biopics in recent years, it will be interesting to see how this one pans out and how does the Pink actress fit into the role of our female cricket team captain.
