Last evening a media interaction was held to announce the official date of Filmfare Awards 2019. Present at the inaugural ceremony of 64th Vimal Filmfare Awards was the dynamite, Ranveer Singh.
Talking about his favourite Filmfare moments, Ranveer got a bit nostalgic and said he has a couple – the first being his first magazine cover and the other being he winning the best actor for Bajirao Mastani the same time Deepika Padukone won the best actress for Piku.
“When I first saw my first cover, that was huge for me because Filmfare has a legacy, Filmfare has a history. Filmfare is a goal standard and so it’s a dream to be on the cover of Filmfare. It’s been graced by titans of the show business. I was damn excited when I shot for it and when the cover came out, for me, it was like a dream come true. ‘Ranveer Singh takes the industry by storm’, the first film received so much love that I made it to the cover, I won the debut award.”
Talking about the second memory he said,
“Then other best memorable moment was winning the Best Actor Award for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ for Peshwa Bajirao. I mean, that was the most magical night. Deepika, my wife won on the same night for ‘Piku’, so to win with her in the same year was very very special for me, special for our whole family, who was present there. Rekha ji gave me the award and you know who was sitting in the first row, the man I wanted to be growing up, Amitabh Bachchan was sitting there. I could not ask for more. I was an absolutely unforgettable moment and its etched in my mind, my heart forever and ever. It’s always exciting to collaborate with Filmfare because of this cinephile.”
Ranveer also spoke about the praise Amitabh Bachchan gave him by saying that he (Ranveer) was his (Amitabh) inspiration for rapping in Badla.
The actor even shared some fun things about being married:
Present at the event were Jitesh Pillaai (Editor, Filmfare), Deepak Lamba (CEO, Worldwide Media), Anil Verma (Group Marketing Head – Vimal Group), Nina Elavia Jaipuria (Head of Hindi Mass Entertainment and Kids TV Network, Viacom 18). The 64th Vimal Filmfare Awards will be held on March 23, 2019.
