Director Hans Petter Moland has left writer Frank Baldwin impressed with his working style. The two worked together in Moland’s Cold Pursuit, which is a remake of his 2014 Norwegian film ‘In Order Of Disappearance’.
“He’s a wonderful director and he shoots beautifully and he’s great with actors. So, every step of the way, I knew that whatever script I turned in would be in great hands and that he would preserve his essential vision of the movie while being open to anything that would enhance that in a different version.”
The writer adds that a lot of new elements have been added to the film.
“Hans was very open from the start about making it a different movie while keeping the spine of the original of trying different things. He didn’t want to simply shoot the same movie again in America. He wanted it to have an American feel and to make sure that Denver and Colorado worked in their own way. The movie wasn’t simply just a retelling of the original but had its own sense of style and locale. And also, with the characters, the spine of the story remains the same, we can have fun with the gangsters in different ways than they did with the original and we can play around a little bit with the co-relationship between Nels and his wife and Nels and his son. It didn’t have to be the letter to letter true to the original. So, it was about preserving the spirit and spine in the original but doing it in a fresh way. In a way that would make it feel like a different movie.”
Director Hans Petter Moland’s Cold Pursuit stars Liam Neeson, Tom Bateman, Tom Jackson, Emmy Rossum, Domenick Lombardozzi, Julia Jones and John Doman. It releases on 8th February in India by PVR PICTURES.
