UrbanAsian got a chance to interview Varun Sharma, who spoke about his fanboy moment with Govinda and how fun was it working with him.

Read it out all here:

  1. How fun was it working with Govinda?

It was really nice. I am a 90’s kid and a huge admirer of all his films and his songs. As a child, I always used to mimic him and dance to his songs. I have done all those things that a fan does. When I got to know about FryDay and when I got to know that I am gonna be working with Govinda, it was a no-brainer. And yes to dance with him is amazing. I have something to show to my kids now.

  1. Was there are any nervousness when you first met him?

No, not at all. Hahahahaha. I am just joking. There was a lot of nervousness. In fact, I will tell you an interesting thing that happened. The first time I met him was in his house. I don’t remember the meeting at all. Abhishek Sir, Govinda and I were there in his house. Govinda came and sat and I was in some other zone. I started remembering his movies, his characters at that time. I could see visuals of his films behind him. I still don’t know what we spoke that day.

  1. A funny/ memorable incident that took place.

It actually happened when we were doing the song. To dance with Govinda, and the first take that took place and when I watched it on-screen that was the most beautiful sight that stayed with me. When the song came out my Mother’s reaction was the best.

  1. Any tips that Govinda shared with you.

No tips as such but during the whole course when you are working with such a fine legend, a lot of things you grab unknowingly.  When you spend time with such a personality for such a long time, there are certain things that kind of get in you. So I have learnt a lot of things. But certainly, there is a lot of knowledge that I grabbed from him.

  1. You have only done comedy roles so far, so any other genre that you wanna explore?

I want to do psychotic thriller. I love thriller, crime drama. If I get a chance I want to do it but at the same time, I love the comedy genre way too much. This is something that I want to continue to do. Make people laugh. I really like when I see someone and they smile back at me and it is the most beautiful thing but I wanna make somebody cry as well onscreen not off screen. I wanna make people laugh on-screen as well as off-screen.

  1. What’s next?

After FryDay, I finished a film which is in post-production right now called Arjun Patiala. It has Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and me. Currently I am shooting for Chhichhore.

  1. Who is an actual Badey for you in your life?

Wow! My Mother. She has been with me throughout my life. A badey is someone who supports you, believes in you and my Mom has. She has been through the thick and thin of my life. She was the one that told me that I will become an actor one day when I told her when I was a kid that I want to become an actor.

  1. You have worked with Shah Rukh Khan and now Govinda, so who’s next?

I really want to be in a Salman Khan film.
