Directed by Atul Manjrekar and produced by Rakesyh OmPrakash Mehra, Fanney Khan is all set to release on 3rd August, 2018.

During media interactions we got hold of the director-producer Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra who spoke on why did he choose this script and trust me the reason will make you want to watch the movie more.

Read it out here:

When asked why did he chose such a script? Rakeysh OmPrakash Mehra said:

“So I saw the original movie some 10 years ago and immediately fell in love with the film. It was an Oscar nominated film. There was a couple of reasons to fall in love with it. The film had a key which was very close to my heart. The film addresses the issue of body shaming. It also talks about that if you chase your dreams, with passion and honesty, one day you will realise more often that happens with parents is that they are able to fulfill their dreams but through their children they see that happening and their children also see it through them. That is what according to me immortality is. Immortality is that through your kids you are always alive and they carry on the good work and unfulfilled things.”

He added:

“When these two things were happening to me, I felt very strongly about this subject. I chased the subject for almost 3 to 4 years and the director was not willing to give it. We had to convince him to trust us with his making. Now if somebody says give me Rang De Basanti I want to remake it I will not give because you created something you don’t want it to get spoilt in the interpretation. And it is not a translation we are doing we are doing a reinterpretation. Then I felt that in our country girls are judged very harshly. The moment she wakes up she is under a scanner till she goes to sleep. Everyone judges her. We have to look in a certain way, we cannot look fat and many more.”

He further said:

“When I googled about all this, I found out that over 92% girls are judged and are going through all this. So, it was a very important film to me. So I gave the director the reason why I wanted to make this film. I feel when cinema happens, entertainment should be there but there should be something beyond entertainment also.”

Well said Sir! I am sure after reading this majority of the audience will be more eager to watch the film.
