Aparnaa Singh’s directorial movie Irada released in 2017 has bagged a National Award. The film has won under the category ‘Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation’. Irada stars Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Divya Dutta, Sharad Kelkar and Sagarika Ghatge in the pivotal role. It has made a remarkable achievement at the 65th National Film Awards 2017.

The award was distributed by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Mrs. Smriti Irani, Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Mr. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, facilitated the talented director.
Irada, is an eye-opening film where the greed of human beings lead to polluting the environment including the groundwater and efforts to reverse the same. The film garnered positive response from the critics as well as the audience.
Expressing her thoughts on this achievement, director Aparnaa said,
“It’s an honour to be awarded by a prestigious award, a recognition which inspires me to work relentlessly towards creating great content. Lastly it’s god’s grace and hard work paid off.”
Aparnaa forayed into cinema as the research head for the movie Black Friday then progressed into writing. Aparnaa has critically written dialogues for Shauraya and co-written for Gulaal. She has previously worked with Tarsem Singh for a Hollywood project The Fall.
