  1. Did you expect such a good response to Raid?

Of course, we were not expecting such overwhelming response, but we were very sure that we had made a good film, and we were also liking. Everyone was very positive about the film so we had an idea that we have made a good film, but I am happy that everyone is loving the movie.

  1. How did you and your team celebrate the success?

We haven’t celebrated the success right now. We will let it go for another week or so, and see where we go and then, of course, there will be a celebration.

  1. Do you think movies such as Aamir, No One Killed Jessica, and Raid – that have an emotional aspect are easier to connect with the audience?

Ya. Of course. There is an emotional connection in all my films, especially the films that you have mentioned. Somewhere down the line as a filmmaker, whenever I have heard any story, I have tried to connect with it emotionally, and I have only picked up stories that have connected with me emotionally. When you say or show the story in that emotional way, it is easy for the audience to connect to it. And this has happened this time also.

  1. Any plans to direct any comedy or romantic movie in future?

IDK. If there is any subject that will emotionally connect with me, I will surely like to explore it then. There should be some emotional connection in the story.

  1. Do Box-Office numbers matter to you personally?

Of course, it matters. You require money to make films so whenever a film does well, the money comes back to the those who have spent their money on making the film, it gives them confidence to keep investing in more films, especially like Raid, but I feel for them as well as for us, the first priority is to make a good film, and when you make a good film, you know that people will come and watch it and when they do, it is translated to box office numbers.

  1. Do you think promotional activities play an important role in the success of the film?

I don’t know whether it is about the success, but I know that it creates a certain awareness for sure, but I think if success is equivalent to promoting a film, then people will make anything. I don’t think that it is true, it is true but to an extent where people might get aware of the films.

  1. How has your journey in the industry been till now?

It’s been good. I think I have made my fourth film, and I am very happy with it. Of course, in every journey that you make in life, there are hurdles that will come, but we have to keep them aside and move ahead. There has been difficulty but I think that is a normal part of everyone’s journey.

  1. What’s next?

There is something that I am working on. It is based on a real-life incident. But it has not come to a shape that I can announce it. It should take another month or so when it is all in place. It is premature right now to talk about it.
