Punjabi British actress Mandy Takhar who mainly appears in Punjabi films recently collaborated with famous singer-rapper Dr Zeus in the beat number Lado Rani.
UrbanAsian got a chance to interview this singer where we got to know more about the song Lado Rani and of course about the singer herself.
- How did your collaboration for Lado Rani happen with Dr Zeus?
Dr Zeus is actually a family friend. I met him sometime in 2014 and he just happened to play the track, Lado Rani. I instantly knew I wanted to work on this song and he encouraged me for the same. I always wanted to get into singing.
- How was it working with Dr Zeus?
It was super comfortable working with Zeus. He has been in the industry for so long. He knows exactly what he is doing and I’m a newcomer.
- How did you come up with your look for Lado Rani?
Wanted to keep it casual and comfortable, so stuck with my favourite ripped jeans and a funky jacket.
- You have worked in Punjabi films and also in Bumboo. Any plans on doing more work in Bollywood too?
If I come across a right script, with an interesting story, I definitely would.
- What are the 3 things that you miss about the UK?
My family, the fresh unpolluted air and the general cleanliness of the city.
- What kind of genre do you love singing?
Love singing romantic songs.
- A song that would describe your life?

- Do you have bad work days? Days in which you can’t work to your potential? How do you handle them?
I do- it’s usually because of lack of sleep. I concentrate on the breath, and breath slowly and deeply to avoid getting anxious. Oh! And loads of coffee.
