Arko Pravo Mukerjee is a singer, music composer and songwriter as well. His latest release Rangadaari from Daas Dev has been loved and appreciated by the audience.
UrbanAsian got a chance to interview this amazing Music Composer Arko Pravo Mukerjee where he spoke about his collaboration with Sudhir Mishra and also what kind of songs he loves to compose.

- How did you come up with Rangdaari?
I had this mukhda written when I was recording a song in Los Angeles last year. That time Sudhir Mishra and Rahul sir contacted me saying that they needed a song which is a gist of the film. The entire emotion of the film should be covered in this song. Basically, it is like a promotional song. I was already writing the mukhda of this song so everything fell into place for me. I shared it with Sudhir sir and then I came to Mumbai and recorded it here and that is how all this happened.
- Any particular thing that came to your mind while recording the song?
The word Rangdaari itself is very interesting. It is used in many ways. There is a lot of meaning to it. It was a coincidence that they send me this poem and I was recording this song. I record the songs and keep and then use it for films. So it was apt for this movie and we used it. Since childhood, I am a Sudhir Mishra fan. His movies and approach are very unique. I know Rahul Bhatt for a while so when they approached me I said yes. Mostly, people approach me for romantic songs but this was something different. And the song has very deep meaning and the film itself has so many layers. And it is the first time that I have featured in the video with Rahul Bhatt and Richa Chadha, so I am very excited and looking forward.
- Any plans of acting in future?
No No. I am very bad at acting. I will end up just being myself. There are no plans of acting but there are some videos that I am shooting this year for T Series, Sony Music, Zee Music in which we are going to bring the essence of the song in the video.
- What kind of music genre are you more interested in?
Most people call me to sing romantic kind of songs. But this year I have a lot of releases. I have Gold with Akshay Kumar, Satyameva Jayate, Tadka, and many more. A lot of different songs and not just love songs.
- Will we get to hear some party numbers as well?
I have done 1 or 2 but this year I have different party songs kind of Hip-Hop songs coming this May and June.
- How has your journey been so far in the industry?
It has been quite interesting. In these last 5 years, I have done only about 20 films. I have not been working in between. It has been a very slow journey. I have not done much compared to my colleagues. This year, however, there is a lot of work. This year the focus is only on Bollywood singles and albums. This year I am only going to do originals and no remakes.
- What kind of music do you love to listen to?
I love all kind of music except heavy metal music. I love country, folk music from different parts of India, rock music. Old school music.
- What do you do when not working?
I write and I travel a lot. I write other stuff as well besides songs. I have shows this year. The rehearsals are starting.
- You are a singer, music composer, and lyricist- So what do you enjoy doing the most?
I enjoy making the song the most. I am not a great singer. If I feel like I sing, it depends on the song. Our country has amazing singers.
