Sudhir Mishra’s Daas Dev starring Richa Chadha, Rahul Bhat, and Aditi Rao Hydari released this Friday. The much-anticipated film has certainly created an ever since it was released.

Over the span of three days, Daas Dev has garnered immense love and appreciation from the B-Town.
So unlike the classic Devdas, his film isn’t a tragedy? Sudhir Mishra says “It isn’t, but it isn’t a happy film either. It’s definitely positive though. I’ve mixed genres in this film — it’s a political story with Shakespearean treatment and a strong romantic base. It’s essentially about three people who get addicted to power. It’s about their freedom from lust, corruption, dirt and sickness of power. It is a reverse journey. Dev is addicted to power but eventually liberates himself,” says Mishra, who is known for his proficiency in creating contemporary themes.
Here’s what B-Townies have to say about Daas Dev:

Choosing the cast has never been difficult for Sudhir Mishra, who began his career as a screen writer for Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983). “The faces usually start emerging as you write the story,” Mishra says, adding “I wanted Paro to be spunky; she should be taken out of the cliché of this demure, docile, shy in love girl. She’s modern yet rooted, desi but opinionated. Richa fitted the bill. For Chandramukhi, I wanted a fragile, slim beauty, who you think you can crack but she has an inner strength. I had worked with Aditi in Yeh Saali Zindagi and she readily agreed. And then I saw Rahul in Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly. He has the look of a khandani boy — spoilt and arrogant. Also, he’s a very good actor who doesn’t have much of an image. In my films, the character and the journey is far more important, and not the actor.”
Sudhir Mishra’s Daas Dev brings to you the most refined version of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay‘s novel Devdas. It depicting the modern day tale of Daas turning into Dev.
Daas Dev stars Rahul Bhat, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Saurabh Shukla, Vipin Sharma, Dalip Tahil, Deep Raj Rana, Anil Sharma, Sohaila Kapoor, Anurag Kashyap and Vineet Singh. It is produced by Sanjeev Kumar of Saptarishi Cinevision and presented by Gaurav Sharma of Storm Pictures.
