There is an Aayat in Quran, Surah Al Falaq that is one meaning. The other is the sky. My mother kept the name. She used to read a lot of novels when she was young. I was born to her at the age of 17. So she told me Falaq Naaz was the name of her favourite character in a novel. The character is described as poised and beautiful. She was a very positive character and wanted to keep that name, so her wish was fulfilled when I was born. Everyone thinks my name is unique. No one has made fun of it. My friends used to call me ‘Fallo’, ‘Falku’, ‘Fulky’. They call me by these names out of love, so I don’t hate it. There are many songs on the name Falaq. So everyone used to sing those songs, write them and tease me. I used to get angry then.

My name means perceptive art – to see and admire the beauty of art and having the power of perceiving. My mother is a painter and an art teacher. My mother told me the story behind it. In the north, when she was young, they used to get Chitra mock papers for the exams and she used to like those books. So she had decided that she will keep her daughter’s name Chitra and when I happened she kept my name Chitrashi. People get very intrigued with my name because it is very difficult to pronounce. Many people pronounce it incorrectly and it is always a fun experience to hear them trying to pronounce it correctly. I actually feel very proud that my name is not that common and is different. My mother has given me the name purely out of love and her passion.

Himmanshoo is synonymous to Moon, it means someone who is calm and composed. My mom had kept the name. But I did not like it, it was a very common name. In fact, even my wife says my name should be Arjun or something like that. My pet name is Honey, everyone says that my tongue is not sugar quoted but is rather honey quoted. My mom had kept my pet name as well so I kind of like it.

My mama always keeps laughing at my name because it’s too lengthy but after getting fame this name has become my identity. My pet name is Kanha which has also been kept my mother. My mother’s Ishthdev is Lord Krishna that is why she calls me Kanha and remembers Lord Krishna.

Dhrisha means earth. My mom had thought of a lot of names initially, but when I was born I got the letter D, so she thought of the name Dhrisha because it was very unique.
