Bollywood is not only the largest film producer in India but it is also one of the largest centers of film production, so naturally, it attracts people in hordes. Majority of these people desire to be actors, popularly known as strugglers in Bollywood’s lingo.
Actor Vipin Sharma, makes his directorial debut with a web series titled Akki, Vikki Te Nikki. The series deals with life of 3 such strugglers. The web series is a tribute to all those aspiring actors (who are referred as warriors in the web series) who come to Mumbai with dreams and hope, and are upbeat everyday even if they face rejection all the time.
Akki, Vikki Te Nikki was earlier supposed to be a full length feature film but the makers decided to make it a web series instead.
“The content was beautiful and we couldn’t have done justice to it in 2.5 or 3 hours, hence we decided to make a web series instead of a feature film.”
Says Producer Surendra Bohra.
“Since we celebrated 100 years of cinema in India recently it is time to pay tribute to these actors, dressed in their best roaming the streets of Mumbai going from door to door, asking sheepishly, ‘Audition hai kya aaj?’ looking for that golden opportunity which will turn them into a Star.”
Says Vipin.
Akki Vikki Teh Nikki has many firsts attached to it. For the first time an online casting agency is producing a web series, for the first time around 156 actors are making their respective debuts in a web series that has been directed by first time director Vipin Sharma who is known for films like Taare Zameen Par, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster and Gangs of Wasseypur to name a few.
The first episode of Akki, Vikki Te Nikki will come out on Diwali.
