Actor Ankit Bathla, who is currently in Indonesia for work, is having the time of his life. The actor says that the love that he has received from the fans here has been tremendous.
“Indonesia has given me so much love that I couldn’t even fathom. I feel blessed to be able to be the reason for happiness and joy for so many fans here. I owe gratitude to all of them,”
he says, adding,
“I am having a blast here. I don’t know when I will be back, it depends on my contract.”
The experience has been phenomenal, says Ankit.
“Everything about the country is amazing, people, fans, and TV crew, Indonesian co-actors, food. It’s an overwhelming experience.”
Fans are what makes Indonesia special and Ankit has had some amazing fan experiences.
“There were these bunch of girls, who came all the way from Surabaya, to meet me in Jakarta, which involves taking a flight and finding a place to stay here. They got mangoes specially, as they know I love them and got a cake for my birthday. They even got me diyas for Diwali, a small Christmas tree and a watch for New Year. They planned all this as they wanted to be with me for all these special occasions. It’s a tradition in Indonesia that if someone touches the bump of pregnant women, the kid gets the characteristics of that person. It’s amazing when they walk up to me and say, ‘We want our baby to be good looking and humble like you’.”
Of course, there were times when situations got a little out of hand.
“There was this one time when few fans used the service lift to access our floor in the hotel. In fact security had to be called. There were fans waiting for us at the reception till 4 am as that’s when we left for the flight.”
Meanwhile, talking about the future projects, Ankit wants to take up interesting work.
“As an actor, I want to keep experimenting with characters, so I don’t really have any reservations, just good and meaningful work. I think the right attitude and will to keep rediscovering oneself, is what gets you through.”
Ask him about who he looks up to in the industry and he says,
“Deepika Padukone and Mr Bachchan. They are two intelligent people, who are amazing actors and people too.”
