UA Exclusive| Kirti Kulhari: Madhur Bhandarkar Is A Very Non-Serious Person!

Known for her amazing acting in movie like Shaitan, Pink and now Indu Sarkar, the gorgeous actress, Kirti Kulhari recently revealed few things with UrbanAsian about working with Madhur Bhandarkar for the first time and about her upcoming projects as well.

  1. What made you say yes to the role in Indu Sarkar?
  • Since you all have seen the film, I don’t think I need to say much about why I took the role. It was a very challenging role for me as an actor, something that I haven’t done before. This was the main reason why I chose this role. And it was very interesting to portray about the Emergency in the film. And ofcourse I was working with Madhur Bhandarkar so I don’t think I had any reason to say no to the film.

 

  1. Was it a tough decision to take this role?
  • No, it wasn’t. I kind of took it up in the first meeting itself. It seemed a very attractive role to me.

 

  1. Which Madhur Bhandarkar movie, that was released earlier you wish you were a part of?
  • Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, Corporate.. Quite a few of them.

 

  1. Are you a fan of real cinema or you like entertainment more?
  • I personally prefer more realistic cinema but I also like watching entertaining masala films once in a while. But if you have a film which could combine both then that would be my favorite.

 

  1. How was it working with Madhur Bhandarkar?
  • It was really great working with Madhur. He is a very chilled out person, director. Very easy on you as an actor on set. A very non-serious person, cracking jokes all the time. I like the fact that he makes movies on different topics and has Women as a central character. I had a great time working with him.

 

  1. How did you prepare yourself for this role?
  • I watched a lot of YouTube videos and then a met a psychiatric to understand how people would stammer, how they are like, mentally, emotionally, psychologically. Then I met a speech therapist and did couple sessions with her for the character.

 

  1. A lot of scenes were cut from the movie. Your take on this?
  • Not much, but a couple of shorts were cut from the movie.

 

  1. Do you like to do more kind of serious roles than bubbly romantic roles?
  • I would like to do everything. As an actor I want to experience all kind of genre, all kind of roles. My next film is a black comedy with Irrfan Khan.

 

  1. A particular dream role or character you have in mind that you wanna play?
  • I would love to do a biopic on Gayatri Devi.

 

 

  1. Director or actor you wanna work with?
  • I would love to work with Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Vidya Balan, Alia Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut. And in directors I really like Zoya Alkhtar’s work, Vikram Aditya Motwane, Dibakar Banerjee.

 

  1. What’s next?
  • A black comedy movie with Irrfan khan which will be realeasing soon.
