Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar & Aaditya Thackeray were present in Mumbai today at the graduation event of a women self-defense course.
When asked if men, and especially boys, in schools should be taught how to treat girls & women, Akshay said:
“It is the job of parents to teach boys on how to behave with girls. I cannot sit with every parent and teach them. I’m here to teach women and girls self-defense. It’s another way to tackle the problem. I think self defense in the most important think for every school and it should be made compulsory.”
Bhumi added:
“We need to educate our boys that women are not their jaagirs. In small towns, you have a mentality of male supremacy. That needs to be broken. It can only happen through knowledge & education. Every mother needs to tell her son that just because you have seen your father treat me badly doesn’t mean you are allowed to treat every other women in your family and around, in the same way.”
