Vikas Verma: It’s Very Difficult To Make People Hate You

After playing a negative role in both Shaandaar and Yariyaan, actor Vikas Verma played a dark character in the recently released Mom as well. Talking about his fascination for negative characters, Vikas says that he opts for them as they give him a chance to showcase his acting abilities on screen.

He said:

“It’s not that I am fascinated with a negative image but I love doing something which is more challenging and out of the box. It’s very difficult to make people hate you…like literally hate you. The satisfaction you get out of doing challenging things is immeasurable.”

The actor played the role of Charles in the Sridevi starrer, which was directed by debutante director Ravi Udyawar. Talking about his experience of shooting the film, Vikas said:

“Not even at one point did I feel like that Ravi sir was a first time director. His story telling is beyond perfect and talking about direction, it’s evident from the film that what a great job he has done. As for my role, I got many calls from my friends and family saying, ‘Charles, I hate you so so much. Why would you do that to that little girl’ and, you deserved that from Sridevi’ and many hateful comments like that for my character. This means I acted well.”

All three films have been close to Vikas’ heart.

He added:

“These three films will be always special to me and close to my heart. Every film gave me a different experience, some unforgettable moments and beautiful memories to cherish forever. Like in Yaariyan, all of us bonded really well on the sets and shared a great rapport with each other. Shaandar was a totally different experience altogether. I got the opportunity to work with super talented actors of the industry like Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj sir, Sanjay sir. And talking about Mom, this film will always remain close to my heart. Working with Sridevi ma’am was like a dream come true. She is a superstar and there is a lot that you can learn from her.”

Another thing that comes to mind when you meet Vikas is his well maintained physique. Ask him his secret and he said:

“The mantra is very simple…early to bed and early to rise, keep exercising regularly and eat healthy.”

Although it is hard to imagine, Vikas also nurses a fear of heights, which often poses as a challenge.

He added:

“I am very scared of heights. Only I know how difficult it was for me in Yaariyaan to shoot mountain and cycling scenes. I was really scared but I took it as a challenge and did it.”
