“From an astrological perspective, Mahashivratri holds profound significance as it aligns cosmic energies in a way that aids spiritual growth, transformation, and inner awakening. On Mahashivratri 2025, the planetary alignments play a vital role in amplifying the festival’s spiritual energies,” he said.

“The Sun will be in Aquarius, representing innovation, detachment, and higher knowledge. The Moon, which governs the mind and emotions, will be in Capricorn under the influence of the Dhanishtha Nakshatra, ruled by Mars. This combination offers a blend of discipline, ambition, and the courage to overcome internal and external challenges,” he added.

While he said that Mahashivratri offers universal benefits, he stressed that certain zodiac signs may feel a stronger influence. He said,

“Pisces, with Venus and Rahu in their sign, can expect spiritual revelations and heightened intuition. This is an ideal time for meditation and connecting with your inner self. For Capricorn, the Moon’s placement in Capricorn brings mental clarity and an opportunity to set and achieve spiritual goals. As for Aquarius, Saturn’s energy in Aquarius encourages disciplined spiritual practices and helps release old karmic patterns.”

When asked any spiritual ritual or practice that will enhance spiritual growth, he said,

“Observing a fast helps purify the mind and body, preparing oneself for deeper meditation. Sitting in silence and focusing on the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ can enhance spiritual vibrations. Performing Rudrabhishek by offering water, milk, honey, and bel leaves to the Shiva Lingam. This ritual balances the planetary influences and purifies the aura.”

“Recite the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra to ward off negative influences and enhance physical and mental health. Staying awake through the night signifies overcoming ignorance and awakening to higher consciousness. And offering prayers during Pradosh Kaal, the time during the twilight period, is considered highly auspicious for Shiva puja,” he added.

Dr. Acharya Vinod Kumar Ojha also revealed that the moon’s energy can be used to advantage by meditating under the night sky, sitting in a calm place under the moonlight, focusing on deep breathing, and letting go of emotional baggage. He added,

“People can also perform a water ritual, where they keep a vessel of water under the moonlight overnight and use it for bathing or rituals the next day to absorb positive lunar energies. Visualise the Moon’s serene energy filling your mind with peace and clarity. By consciously engaging in these practices, one can make the most of Mahashivratri’s powerful cosmic energies, fostering spiritual growth, inner peace, and alignment with universal consciousness.”
