It is time to get those tissues because there are some cute stories coming your way this Valentines Day. So, brace yourself, here are some of our favourite love stories:

Terrini and Chyvan

valentines day

Terrini :
Chyvan and I have known each other for most of our lives. When he was a 10 year old naughty school boy he asked me to be his childhood girlfriend,me being a 10 year old naughty school girl, I said yes and  we spent the next 3 years talking everyday. As we got older,I did something really shitty and I broke Chyv’s heart and ended our relationship to be just friends.

Through our teenage years we remained friends and watched each other date other people. I was okay with it until I saw him one day across the school yard and realized I needed him in my life. In our Matric year he wrote me a badly written poem on a pieces of paper inside a cupcake he baked. Ever since then he holds my hand when I’m sad and kisses my forehead when I smile. Our relationship has experienced a lot of turbulence as we have always prioritized our education and careers, but having that ever willing support and love from someone so amazing has definitely contributed to my strength through the years. Everything I am today, is definitely a result of having him in my life.

Chyvan:

Terrini and I have been dating now for almost 7 years. However, we’ve know each other for almost all our lives. We started off as close friends and I guess life just did the rest. I believe she’s my life companion because she’s been my clear mind and my support structure. She’s shown me that beauty is more than skin deep and her selflessness still amazes me till this day.

She believes in me and my dreams and we’ve always put our careers first. When we took on a long distance relationship we knew we were doing it for the betterment of our future. Even when I was in the military and she in Cape Town, our trust and bond got stronger. She’s helped me through every hurdle in life. I am very grateful to have you in my life Terrini

Allisha and Nickeal

valentines day

Many people believe that long distance relationships are never going to work out. Nobody says it’s going to be easy. However, the extra distance also makes the simplest things the sweetest, being able to hold the other person’s hand, eating together at the same table, feeling each other’s touch, taking a walk together… these small wishes suddenly mean so much more in a long distance relationship.

The first time he saw me he could not recognize who I was even after speaking to each other every day. We laughed about this and still do. Our relationship kicked off as best friends. Knowing everything about each other and comforting each other in times of need.

He moved to another province for work, and we became lonely without each other’s presence. It was the distance that made us notice the bond we share, turning our friendship into love. We accept each other’s flaws, we find happiness together, we see perfect imperfections in each other, and we wait for months to see each other but we also know it’s always worth it.

Keshia and Allwyn

I met Allwyn a couple years ago in my most favourite place, the gym! We were friends for a while at first, and after some time we both could see that something more was brewing, and our relationship developed into something so special. We have been dating for over 2 years now and he proposed recently while on holiday in Australia at the Sydney Opera House! I said Yes of course!
“I knew that he was someone different. His kind heart, affectionate nature and dry sense of humor is what sealed the deal for  me! We both love fitness (me more than him! but to be honest, we balance each other so perfectly, and the love and support from him in all aspects of my life is unreal. He is the yin to my yang and I can’t imagine life without him. He is my best friend, my truest love, and my twin flame️.” – Keshia

Shanine and Aavarn

Crown The Brown Valentines Day

My Boyfriend and I met 4 years ago at a family members wedding and since then we’ve been inseparable, we’ve both had health scares his being cancer at the age of 26 a little over a year after we started dating and have really been through so much together we had a traditional Hindi proposal last year he is my rock and he made me believe that true love really exists.

Damigio and Thiveshan

A few years ago he tried to flirt with me and I told him I’d punch him… Obviously I wasn’t very comfortable with my sexuality. Little did I know that my stars were aligning and the universe had just introduced me to my greatest blessing. He would drive 65km to come to my house and another 65km to go back home almost every night for like 5 months straight (then work got really hectic).
He would wait until I was done with kick boxing class to be with me for an hour and then leave. Eventually my mom refused to have him drive to late and drive up and down (cause she obviously saw how in love I was lol) she told me to welcome him to stay the night.
From sleep overs, to cuddles, my heart started finding its way to his. Now instead of asking when is he coming over, I get to ask him when is he coming home not only to me but to our 2 beautiful girls too! I love him with my whole butt, cause it’s much bigger than my heart, and all my Livers, spleens and whatever keeps me healthy

Des and Denise

Crown The Brown: Valentines Day

We met through family-friends.  We were introduced in the year 2009 and dated on and off in Durban for about 6 months. When I moved to Gauteng at the beginning of 2010, I didn’t realize Des had plans to move as well. Four months after I moved up, he also came up to Johannesburg. We moved in together and married in 2015. Our story is one filled with love, adventure and silly moments! We love trying out new restaurants, binge-watching exciting series and spending quality time with our precious friends and family during holidays and weekends. Also, spa days we enjoy taking a break every now and then.

Reevana and Chad

We have been together for 11 years, married for 7 and are proud parents to two beautiful daughters. Ours is a story akin to old school Bollywood – having first bumped into each other at an audition for a lifestyle show we chatted enthusiastically between takes and then parted ways for a few months. January 2009 ignited our love story when we were cast opposite each as love interests in a Bollywood inspired musical – needless to say, the love story continued off stage and our lives have been interlocked ever since….

Tamera and Bradley

Crown The Brown: Valentines Day

We met in 2017. We started of as friends and it grew into something beautiful. After a few months of being weird and shy. he asked me out. There were many obstacles in our relationship but we overcame everything, We knew that we were meant to be. He proposed and we got married on the 16th of December 2018 and we had a gorgeous baby girl the year later. If our love could be converted into electricity, there wouldn’t be load-shedding because being in love with your best friend is the best feeling in the world.

Kashini and Michael

Crown The Brown: Valentines Day

Michael and I went to the same high school and were in the same grade yet we never really talked. After high school we started talking and later became friends. We were friends for a few years before we realized we had this special spark. We’ve been together for two years and being in an interracial relationship comes with its challenges but together we deal with it positively. He is one of the most genuine and honest people I know. Through thick and thin, I know his hand will be there to hold. With him in my life, everyday has become phenomenal.
